Codie Sanchez is an NYT bestselling author, a founder of multiple companies, and an investor. She stands out amongst the crowd by buying boring businesses like laundromats. These businesses aren’t necessarily glamorous, but they do allow Codie the freedom that money offers.
And, she wants to share that freedom with you! Codie’s mission is to teach a million people to become financially free through business ownership. Codie Sanchez Bio: The Codie Sanchez Story
Believe it or not, Codie’s passion for building wealth didn’t begin early in life. Codie actually began her adult life as a journalist.

While working as a journalist, Codie saw first hand what it meant to have money vs. to be without money. And, truth be told, not having money was a scary reality.
This changed Codie’s perspective. She told us, “I’m going to relentlessly pursue money to a certain degree, because I think it means I can protect myself and others. I think that’s what money means to me.”
As a result, Codie went into finance before she began acquiring businesses. Her first finance job was for the Vanguard Group in 2008, which showed her again how hard lacking money can be.
Entering the workforce at such a crucial time gave Codie some insight on why the younger generation isn’t getting richer they’re not used to risk. As her mentor said, “you can’t spell rich without risk.”
Codie began taking risks by investing in small businesses while still working on Wall Street for companies like Goldman Sachs, State Street, and First Trust.
Then, in 2020, she launched Contrarian Thinking. We’ll get into that more below!
Where Is Codie Sanchez From?
Codie was born on August 23, 1986 to a special education teacher and a self-made builder. She learned from them the importance of ownership and taking risks. This informed her business decisions as an adult.
Before becoming a business owner, Codie grew up in Arizona and eventually attended Arizona State University. She was very involved at ASU, serving as an ASU senator and holding executive positions in various honors organizations. She graduated in 2008 with a degree in journalism and political science.

Codie is the founder of two companies: Contrarian Thinking and Unconventional Acquisitions.
Contrarian Thinking is Codie’s company “on a mission to help 1 million people become financially and philosophically free.” Named after Codie’s contrarian thinking, this company has already helped 750,000 people become financially free.
Unconventional Acquisitions buys, sells, and invests in small businesses.
Investor
As an investor, Codie likes to call herself the “Boring Biz Lady.” She’s always investing in undervalued businesses with a high profit margin. This is how she suggests you can get rich without being a Wall Street investor.
Writer

Laundromats
Codie invested in laundromats because they are largely self-serve, meaning that they generate income without a significant number of employees to pay.
Car Washes
Similarly to laundromats, Codie bought self-serve single- and double-bay car wash companies. She noted in the podcast that these businesses are great for entrepreneurs, because they can be run off of subscriptions.

Codie shared many of her contrarian thoughts on the show. Her way of thinking is high-vibrational, confident, and often in opposition to the normal way of thinking.
For example, she told us about the levels of wealth and how to make money moves more quickly. Most would start by thinking, how am I going to get rich? Codie, on the other hand, starts by thinking “what can I, with a higher likelihood, buy to solve my problem?” Watch the show to learn why!
Codie believes money can make life better and easier. She rejects the common thought that money is the root of all evil. Her company encourages regular people to aggressively pursue money the way Wall Street people would but without making money for someone else higher up.
