Who Is Ivanka Trump?
Ivana “Ivanka” Marie Trump is the eldest daughter of President Donald Trump. Ivanka was born to President Trump and his first wife, Ivana Trump, who has since passed. She was named after her mother, but has gone by the nickname “Ivanka” for most of her life.
The middle child of President Trump and Ivana Trump’s three children, Ivanka grew up with an intense curiosity about the world around her. She was especially curious about her mother and father’s work.
As a child, she noticed that the people around her whose parents were successful fell into two categories: highly successful people, AKA “strivers,” or people who were so paralyzed by fear they never made it out of the gate.
She said “seeing my parents, their passion, their energy, their commitment to their work—it made the prospect of sort of accomplishing things in my life and having an impact exciting and something that felt aspirational. It felt aspirational in our household. But, I also just chose to take the natural sort of insecurity, fear, self doubt, and harness it to propel me forward.”
With such a perspective on self-doubt, is it any wonder Ivanka Trump is the successful woman she is today? We can’t say we’re surprised. Ivanka is someone who has put in the hard work in multiple areas to have an impact on the world.
One of those areas in which Ivanka made an impact is in the business world. Ivanka worked for her father at the Trump Organization as an executive vice president. Ivanka then served as one of President Trump’s top aides for the four years of his first term. She worked on projects like doubling the child tax credit and paid family leave for federal employees.
But, lately, she hasn’t been in the public eye. So, where did Ivanka Trump go?

After leaving Washington D.C. in 2021, Ivanka and her family moved to Florida to get away from politics. Let’s chat about why.
Why Ivanka Trump Left Politics
Ivanka says she “knows the cost” of working in politics, and she’s not willing to make her kids bear it.
She told us, “when you have kids that are teenagers, about to be teenagers, your physical presence matters so much.” Her highest value is family, so she made a decision aligned with that value.
She wanted to be there for the small moments.
In her interview, Ivanka told us how she was able to be there for all the critical moments of her kids’ lives during the first term. But, she wants to be there for the small moments, too.
She loves the impact she can make, but politics has a darkness to it that she doesn’t want to invite in.
She says, “unfortunately, the two [impact and politics] are not separable… it’s a very dark, negative business. And some people love the gladiator aspect of it. You know, the fight. That was never me.”
“I really did love the impact, especially as time went on. And it wasn’t theoretical. Like, people would walk up to you and say, you know, the child tax credit. Or the fact that I was able to advocate successfully for getting paid family leave for our federal workforce, the largest employer in the country. Or the first national paid family leave tax credit. Or things like this that people benefit from.”
Ivanka says she realized that you can have impact through other spheres, like volunteering in the community. Plus, she says there’s a huge amount of impact you can have in the private sector as well.
What Is Ivanka Trump Doing Now?
She’s living in Florida.
Ivanka has decided to stay out of politics for her father’s second term. Instead, she will be staying in Florida, living a slower life.
Her role this term will be to support her father as a daughter.
Ivanka told us she’s looking forward to supporting her father as much as a daughter can: letting him be himself, relax, and maybe watch a movie or a sports game.
She’s focusing on her family.
Ivanka and her husband are taking this time to be present with their family.
