This show was massively popular for nearly a decade, thanks to the incredible talent of the dancers and the wild behavior of the moms and dance instructor, Abby Lee Miller. Every week, you could count on the fact that one girl was going to be at the bottom of the pyramid and at LEAST one mom wasn’t going to be happy.
Between fist fights, verbal snips, and even a drink or two being thrown, Dance Moms kept us entertained for years.
Now, the young dancers have aged into adulthood, starting their own careers. Some went to college, while others began building and expanding their brand.
Kenzie Ziegler, one of the young dancers from the show, joined us for a podcast to talk about all that’s changed & everything she’s doing now. Who Is Kenzie Ziegler?
First, let’s dive deep into who Kenzie Ziegler is.
At only 20 years old, Kenzie Ziegler is a singer-songwriter, actress, former dancer, executive producer, and influencer. But, how did she manage to achieve so much at such a young age?
Kenzie’s career began at just six years old, when Lifetime producers were looking to do a documentary on competition dancers. When they interviewed the people at Kenzie’s studio, the Abby Lee Dance Company, they realized the moms there were the craziest so they had found their studio. On the first day of filming, a fight broke out, and the producers flipped the script. They then turned the documentary into a reality TV series. The show was a huge hit almost immediately, leaving Kenzie barrelling toward stardom long before she could understand it.
Kenzie told us about how she first started to get recognized. It happened quickly her friends at 6 years old were almost obsessed with her and so excited about her appearances on television. They’d ask her questions about the show, while Kenzie still couldn’t believe people were actually watching.

While on the show, Kenzie was the youngest permanent member of the competition team featured on Dance Moms. She was often compared with her older sister Maddie Ziegler by dance instructor Abby Lee Miller. Despite this pressure to be like her older sister, she and her sister have maintained a close, positive relationship. In her episode of the Him & Her show, Kenzie called Maddie “an angel.”
While competing in dance and filming for the show, Kenzie was also working on a music project. On April 2, 2014, Kenzie released her debut single, “It’s A Girl Party,” under the name “Mack Z.” Her self-titled debut album was released on April 26, 2014. It reached #1 on the iTunes pop chart list in America.
Kenzie continued to compete on the show for 5 total years, before she left in season 6. So, what’s she up to now?

At the time of writing (May 2025), Kenzie Ziegler is dating influencer and musician, Cole Sage. It’s not clear when they began dating, but they have been rumored to be together for about a year.
What Does Kenzie Ziegler Do Now?
Kenzie’s just finishing up a music tour with Mark Ambor.
In 2024, Kenzie announced that she’d been keeping a secret: she was going to be opening for Mark Ambor’s Rockwood tour. Since then, she has had an incredible time touring with an amazing set list of songs from her most recent album, biting my tongue.
Her third studio album, biting my tongue, was released on July 26, 2024.
Kenzie talked to us on the podcast about how she got into music. It was something she was kind of thrown into when she was younger. Initially, she wrote it off, thinking she was only thrown into it because of her Dance Moms fame.
Eventually, she came back to music, realizing it was a passion of hers. It’s also a cathartic hobby for Kenzie, as she was able to process through some grief about her dad abandoning her in childhood in her song, “anatomy.” This song was included in her third album.

She and her sister, Maddie Ziegler, did a collaboration with American Eagle.
Kenzie Ziegler and her sister Maddie may have taken different paths with their brands as adults, but they still love to collaborate with each other. They got that amazing opportunity to collaborate on a collection for American Eagle, AE x Maddie & Kenzie.
This collection was part of American Eagle’s back-to-school collection in 2023. It features an oversize leather jacket, a slip dress, a midi skirt, wide-leg pants, layering basics, and more.
She became an executive producer and actor (at age 13).
Kenzie starred in a show called Total Eclipse for four seasons from 2018-2020. But, she didn’t just star in it—she also executive produced 10 episodes in 2018. At the time, she was only 13 years old.
The show itself was an American teen drama web series produced by the digital network Brat. It premiered on April 5, 2018, on Brat’s YouTube channel. Kenzie starred as high school student Cassie, who was ditched and then bullied by her friends.
Kenzie has since acted in other titles, including several music videos.
Her social media following is huge.
At 14.4 million followers on Instagram and 23.7 million followers on TikTok, it’s safe to say Kenzie Ziegler has a massive following. She regularly posts on her accounts, sharing snippets of her life from tour and showing off her style in brand deals.
