This week on THE SKINNY CONFIDENTIAL HIM & HER PODCAST…
( 0:55 ): Welcome back to TSC HIM & HER Show. #412: On today’s episode we are joined by Brent Hruska. Brent is a certified trainer and also happens to be Lauryn and Michael’s trainer. On today’s show we discuss how strength training can be the unlock to longevity, better mental health, balanced hormones, and improved weight management. This episode is focused on health and training at the core.
DISCUSSION QUESTIONS WITH
( 5:40 ): Lauryn says “why don’t you tell us about how you got into weight lifting specifically with women because that is your expertise”
( 7:15 ): Michael asks, “when you say emotional eating what do you think the reason for that was and how does that manifest itself?”
( 8:07 ): Michael asks, “the first time you made the decision not get in shape and start taking care of yourself did it take a couple tries?”
( 9:39 ): Lauryn asks, “can you remember the first epiphany or thing that started working with weight loss?”
( 10:21 ): Lauryn asks, “why do you think women are so afraid of weight training?”
(12:48 ): Michael says, “so what you’re saying is there is this myth that a lot of women have where if they weight lift they’re gonna put on all of this bulky-ness?”
( 14:19 ): Lauryn says, “one thing that fucks you up and I would love for you to speak on this — is I have gained weight but I have looked fitter and my jeans are falling off my — can you explain that?”
( 15:36 ): Michael says, “I think there’s this notion that if you gain weight, especially as women, it’s this bad thing because you’re expected to be a certain size or certain weight but muscle is more dense than fat so as you build more muscle it’s inevitable that you’re gonna gain weight but it’s a good weight gain.”
( 18:13 ): Lauryn says, “you work with a lot of women so maybe you can settle the audience’s stress about that.”
( 18:52 ): Michael says, “one topic that comes up on this show all the time is confidence – how do you build confidence and where does it come from?”
( 23:47 ): Lauryn asks, “what do you think the environment does to play into these women working out? Do you think it’s important? Because to me it’s a complete energy shift.”
( 26:17 ): Lauryn says, “I would love to talk about the “prescription” you gave me because I have seen this in my DMs and I think a lot of women feel a similar way. I came to you wanting long, lean muscle. How did you start me out if someone wants to tell their trainer? And then also explain what you did for Michael?”
( 28:08 ): Michael says, “I think a lot of people are sitting here thinking they work out daily or 5 days a week. I think one of the benefits of lifting heavy weights is it doesn’t have to be daily.”
( 32:09 ): Lauryn asks, “so what’s the difference between me and Michael – the fundamental difference when you weight train?”
( 34:10 ): Lauryn says, “I know that you’re big on recovery — can you talk about that some tools in the recovery toolbox?”
( 35:10 ): Michael says, “describe a float tank – some people don’t know what a float tank is — it’s water with a shitload of salt.”
( 35:24 ): Michaels says, “Lauryn and I had two different experiences with it.”
( 36:08 ): Lauryn says, “so speak on why the float tank is one of your recovery tools.”
( 38:15 ): Michael says, “I think a lot of people look at this stuff and say ‘this is all expensive’ but they also have a difficult time auditing what else are they spending their money on that’s also unnecessary.”
( 39:35 ): Michael says, “you have all the money in the world and all these resources but you’re so unhealthy you’re most likely not gonna be here for your kids grow up.”
( 40:44 ): Michael says, “you’re not gonna be happy if you don’t feel healthy and accountable to yourself. You can love yourself and all of these things, but if you’re unhealthy and not feeling good, it’s kind of like horseshit. You have to be in a healthy state of mind and a healthy body to enjoy these things.”
( 43:55 ): Lauryn asks, “so, quickly to the audience – if you could spark note it – 5 things that they can do tomorrow to lower their cortisol.”
( 46:07 ): Lauryn says, “that’s why I get scared of running — and this is my personal opinion for myself — because I feel like it sags my skin if you were doing it for a long distance. Am I crazy?”
( 47:32 ): Lauryn says, “let’s talk about food. I know you’re not a nutritionist, but I’m sure you’ve seen a lot of different things. We have a lot of women listeners — are there any quick tips that you can recommend to our women listeners? What are those little tactics that you give your women clients?”
( 50:31 ): Lauryn says, “Michael, I would like you to talk about your wellness journey because you’ve completely changed your body.”
( 57:25 ): Lauryn says, “you recently did Ayahuasca. I would love for you to tell us about that experience if you are open to it.”
( 1:00:14 ): Michael asks, “what do you think the misconceptions are around some of these plant medicines?”
( 1:03:08 ): Lauryn asks, “if you were to leave our audience with three tools that they should maybe purchase at home, what would those 3 tools be?”
( 1:06:17 ): Lauryn says, “Brent, tell our audience where they can find you, can they do anything online with you, I know you have a text community, your instagram, pimp yourself out.”
