Recently, we met American actress Cheryl Hines, who’s been in the spotlight for years for her work with Larry David on one of our favorite shows, Curb Your Enthusiasm (2000-2024).

Of course, she’s been trending more recently for other things namely, her relationship with Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

So, who is Cheryl Hines, exactly? We know you’re wondering, which is why we’re taking today to get to know her! Who is Cheryl Hines?

Cheryl Hines was born in Miami Beach, Florida on September 21, 1965, but she grew up mostly in Tallahassee, Florida. She’d been into acting from a young age, always doing sketch shows with her sister.

When she graduated high school, though, she didn’t go straight to acting she went to hair school. After hair school, she realized she wanted to go to college, so she attended the University of Central Florida. There, she majored in television production and minored in theatre.

She graduated in 1990, but she didn’t move to LA until 3 years later, when she began pursuing her acting career in earnest.

In LA, she began taking classes at The Groundlings Theatre & School, which is “really where [her] life changed.” Her first teacher at the school was Lisa Kudrow, pre-Friends era. Which can you even imagine?

While still at Groundlings, Cheryl took an audition improvising with Larry David. She got her big break when she was cast as Cheryl David in Curb Your Enthusiasm. From there, her fame skyrocketed. Since then, she has acted in, produced, and directed an impressive filmography’s worth of shows and movies.

As for her personal life, Cheryl married Paul Young in 2002. In 2004, their daughter, Catherine Rose Young, was born. Paul Young and Cheryl later divorced in 2010.

In 2011, Cheryl began dating Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who is currently in the Senate confirmation hearing process to become the head of the United States Department of Health and Human Services. Hines and Kennedy later got married in 2014 and have been together ever since

Cheryl also does some important work with United Cerebral Palsy, using her celebrity status to raise awareness.

Curb Your Enthusiasm is the show Cheryl Hines is most known for. She played Cheryl David, Larry David’s wife. She was nominated for two Emmy Awards for her work on the show.

Cheryl stars in RV alongside Robin Williams. She played Jamie Munro, wife of Bob Munro (Robin Williams). This movie is about a dysfunctional family going on vacation in a less-than-ideal RV.

In A Bad Moms Christmas, Cheryl plays Sandy, the mother of Kiki (Kristen Bell). Kiki is one of the main moms in the movie. Sandy is an overbearing, codependent mother to Kiki.

Herbie Fully Loaded is a movie starring Lindsay Lohan as Maggie Peyton, a young girl who wants to be a NASCAR driver. Cheryl plays Sally, one of Team Peyton’s few sponsors.

Cheryl Hines has a long filmography as an actor, appearing in nearly 80 screen productions. Curb Your Enthusiasm is her most famous role, but Cheryl actively pursued other opportunities while working on the show.

Executive Producer

She has also spent some time working as an executive producer on Campus Ladies, Hollywood Help, and Hollywood Residential.

Director

Cheryl directed one episode of Campus Ladies in 2006, and went on to make her directorial debut in film with Serious Moonlight in 2009. Prior to her own debut, she worked as an assistant director to Director Rob Reiner. She has since directed an episode of Hollywood Help and an episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Philanthropist

Cheryl’s nephew, Michael, was born with cerebral palsy, so Cheryl contacted United Cerebral Palsy for help and answers. Since then, Cheryl has continued to use her platform to elevate UCP’s message. She also won $25,000 for the cause on Celebrity Family Feud.

Beauty Mogul

Beyond the world of film, Cheryl has recently started a beauty brand with her daughter. The brand, hines + young, sells clean beauty products packaged in recyclable glass and aluminum packaging.

Who is Cheryl Hines Married To?

In 2014, Cheryl married RFK Jr., who she calls “Bobby.” She describes him as smart, funny, and charming, despite the seriousness of his platform.

This makes Cheryl an even more interesting celebrity to follow right now, because she’s not only in the midst of Hollywood’s culture, she’s also privy to a lot of political drama.

RFK Jr. ran for president in the 2024 Presidential Election as an Independent, before later dropping out and lending his support to President Donald Trump. During his time campaigning for Trump, he ran his own campaign to Make America Healthy Again.

RFK Jr. has since been nominated for the Secretary of the US Department of Health and Human Services. His platform is often seen as controversial, which is what makes this episode a must-watch. Becuse who does love a behind-the-scenes look?

Why Did Cheryl Hines Leave Curb Your Enthusiasm?

Although Cheryl’s role in Curb Your Enthusiasm was reduced after season 6, Cheryl remained a cast member and was seen in the finale of the show.
