Do What Feels Good by Hannah Bronfman: Book Review
Health and wellness can sometimes feel a little out of reach due to intricate routines, expensive methods, and intense goals. But if you’re searching for a realistic, balanced approach to wellness that doesn’t come with shame and unhealthy extremes? Do What Feels Good is a must-read. It’s right up there for us with other self-improvement books like You Can Heal Your Heart, Outlive, and Let Them.
Yes, it’s that good. But, if you still need some convincing, let us tell you more about Hannah and this incredible book!

Who Is Hannah Bronfman?
Hannah Bronfman is an entrepreneur, influencer, author, investor, and even a DJ. In fact, she actually got her start as a DJ in New York City! She also founded the app Beautified, which booked last-minute beauty services in the city until it shut down in 2015. That didn’t keep Hannah down, though—she did what entrepreneurs do best! She founded HBFIT (Health, Beauty, Fitness), which is what really put her on the map.
HBFIT was a digital content hub and massive online community where followers could find, well, health, beauty, and fitness tips. Think: recipes, nutrition tips, skincare routines, clean product reviews, sustainable workouts, recovery practices, mental health support, and so much more. It was all about helping people realize that health and fitness are supposed to be approachable, not shame-inducing or discouraging.
It was hugely successful, and you can hear a whole lot more on building an ultimate vision beyond social media influence in her interview. However, while running her business, Hannah Bronfman was also managing her venture fund, Conteur Capital. This fund was dedicated to investing in dozens of start-ups led by women, minorities, and other inspiring entrepreneurs in the wellness, beauty, and health space.
Ultimately, the success of HBFIT is what led Hannah to write a book. It just made sense to compile all her wisdom into a source that could reach even more people. People who both wanted and needed to know what real holistic wellness looks like. Plus, Do What Feels Good would continue to live on even after HBFIT closed in 2024. This allowed Hannah to continue making an impact while she fully focused on her role as an angel investor.

What Is the Book Do What Feels Good About?
Wellness that’s Holistic and Joyful
So much of the health guidance swirling around is about restriction and deprivation. It’s stressful, overwhelming, and, most of all, NOT fun. Hannah Bronfman, on the other hand, doesn’t feel like this is the path to good mental or physical health.
Do What Feels Good centers on the core idea that health and wellness practices should prioritize joy. When you treat your body with pleasure in mind, you can experience actual, sustainable healing.
Self-Acceptance and Body Positivity
As a woman of color, Hannah Bronfman grew up navigating beauty and wellness spaces that often lacked representation. An experience that, naturally, shaped her perspective. On top of that, she witnessed a close family member struggle with a debilitating eating disorder.
These experiences influenced her perspective and inspired her to create her own standards of beauty and wellness. In her book, she shares how readers can do the same—embracing body positivity and self-acceptance while still pursuing their personal health journey.
Lifestyle Tips and Self-Care Routines
The book isn’t just about your state of mind; it gives you actionable steps, too! Which, ultimately, is what we all want when reading about self-improvement. Do What Feels Good offers workout guides, self-care routines, DIY beauty tips, and hundreds of holistic lifestyle tips to help you become the best version of yourself.

Listening to Body Signals
Our bodies tell us things. Our chronic symptoms and issues are signs, showing us what steps to take next. This book helps you listen to your body’s signals to make informed choices about things like gut health, skincare, sleep schedules, eating habits, and so much more!
Recipes that Celebrate “Healthy Hedonism”
“Healthy Hedonism” is a term Hannah Bronfman coined to describe her approach to eating and cooking. Essentially, it’s about enjoying balanced meals that are both nourishing and indulgent.
There are so many delicious foods that satisfy cravings, and many of them are actually nutritious too! In Do What Feels Good, you’ll find plenty of recipes and meal plans built around this philosophy, helping you eat well while truly enjoying what you eat.
No Punishment, Just Pleasure
Hannah believes health should never feel like a sacrifice, and that true wellness is all about feeling good. That said, if you do ever feel shamed, pressured, or bullied into a routine, it’s not actually healthy. Do What Feels Good is an eye-opening and inspiring guide for anyone ready to shift their perspective and start a new path toward balanced, joyful wellness.
